Getting Sponsored

The Employment Connection Hiring Solutions

How to pay for services offered by The Employment Connection

Services of The Employment Connection generally are free to job seekers. However, every candidate we work with needs to be sponsored in order to cover the costs of our services. Here is how to obtain sponsorship to work with us:

If you have a developmental disability . . .

The New York State Office of People with a Developmental Disability (OPWDD) can sponsor most of our services for people with a qualifying disability.

  • To find out if your disability is qualified, visit www.opwdd.ny.gov or call the Long Island Developmental Disability Regional Office at 1-631-416-3910.
  • To find out how to obtain Medicaid for OPWDD to sponsor you, call our Medicaid Service Coordinator (MSC) department at 1-631-232-0011, ext. 486, and we will help you qualify at no charge.
  • If you have the correct Medicaid and need a Medicaid Service Coordinator (MSC), we can help. Our MSC services have been offered for over 20 years and are nationally accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF). For information, call our MSC department at 1-631-232-0011, ext. 483.

If you have a disability and do not qualify for OPWDD services. . .

You have several additional options to obtain funding for services:

ACCES-VR

The New York State Office of Adult Career and Continuing Education Services-Vocational Rehabilitation (ACCES-VR) provides sponsorship for employment, assistive technology and educational services for people with disabilities age 14 and older. Call the Hauppauge District Office at 1-631-952-6357; or, if you live on the East End, call the Riverhead Office at 1-631-727-6496.

School Districts

Check with your local school district – some sponsor pre-employment services.

Social Security Administration

The Social Security Administration (SSA) Ticket to Work program can sponsor our services for those receiving Social Security Disability Insurance or Supplemental Security Income services. As an “Employment Network” under contract with SSA, we can help you obtain this sponsorship. Contact us to learn more.

Disability Groups

Specific disability groups have at times sponsored our employment services. Contact us to learn more.

Private Pay

Some individuals/families have chosen to pay us directly for specific services, such as customer service national certification, Tools for Success Seminars, or training/e-learning. Families and individuals have also requested sponsorship from various groups. Contact us to learn more.
